Glass Dog Doors

WA Custom Glass offers installation of Transcat Pet Doors into any custom cut and toughened safety glass panels. Transcat Pet Doors are designed to be installed into glass panels and are made of durable, clear plastic for both a functional and attractive option.

Transcat Pet Doors are placed into a circular hole that is cut into glass before the toughening process occurs to ensure the safety of the glass, and more importantly, your pet and family. Toughening prevents the glass from cracking and is essential to providing a safe environment. However, because glass cannot be altered once it has been toughened; it is necessary for us to remove the glass already installed and replace it with an identical piece that is correctly cut for the pet door. The replacement panel will match the piece that we are removing to maintain the look you desire.

The Transcat Pet Doors offer different sizes to best fit your pet, the largest door is 250mm high and 280mm wide. These size doors are perfect for cats and small to medium size dogs, however, larger dogs may not fit in the doors that we offer. We are able to custom cut glass if you are able to find another door that better suits your needs. Please see our size chart below to best determine what size you would need for your dog.

FAQ’s

Q: What size pet doors do you supply?

A: WA Custom Glass supplies two standard sized pet doors from Transcat Pet Doors. The largest pet door, made for small-medium size dogs features a flap size of 250h x 285w. The smaller door has a flap size of 170h x 180w, this is made for extra small dogs or cats.

Q: What if I have a large dog?

A: For pet doors suitable for larger animals we are happy to custom cut a glass panel for an owner supplied pet door. We take no responsibility for the functionality of the door as some products are not suitable for use in glass panels.

Q: What is the warranty on your pet doors?

A: Because WA Custom Glass is not the manufacturer of the physical pet door the warranty is still held by Transcat. We do guarantee that all pet doors are new products direct from the supplier and that the glass we use is toughened safety glass.

Q: What glass can I use for my pet door?

A: We will only install our pet doors into toughened safety glass. This is for the safety of our clients and their animals. We can use any type of patterned, obscure or clear glass. We recommend using 5mm or 6mm for most standard windows and doors.

Q: Can you install into my existing glass panel?

A: To cut a hole into the glass we must replace the entire existing panel. This guarantees that the pet door is installed into glass that meets all building standards and is toughened for pet safety.

Q: Can a pet door be installed into double glazed panels?

A: Because of the total thickness of double glazed panels we will not install a transact pet door into this area. We recommend finding a panel in the house that does not include double glaze as this is a safer and more cost-effective process.

Q: Can you lock the pet door?

A: Transcat pet doors feature a two-way manual locking system that allows you to lock your pet in or out of your home at any time.

Q: I am getting a pet door in a rented house, am I able to keep the glass panel that in there currently?

A: We are happy to leave the existing glass panel on site. There would be an additional charge to return to site and reinstall this glass. We take no responsibility for damage to glass if it is left on site.

Q: I want the hole as close to the frame as possible. How far over can the hole go?

A: 30mm up/in is the closest we can go to the edge, any closer runs risk of popping the glass when your pet will run through

Q: I have a security screen on the door that I want to install into. Can you do this?

A: We do not install into security screens as you need a specific license to alter security screen mesh.
